Current research interests are around the theme of population ageing in Africa. As part of this research agenda, will be undertaking a study on the health, mortality and living arrangements among older people (aged 50 years and over) in South Africa in the context of high HIV prevalence and wide availability of HIV treatment. Other research interests include demographic estimation using poor or defective data; modeling of demographic processes especially at sub-national levels; socio-economic impacts of orphanhood; sexual behavior and HIV/AIDS among adolescents or young adults.
