What a Fun Run!

Africa Centre for Health and Population Studies was hosting its Fifth Annual Fun Run (6km and 12km), where the youth of Mpukunyoni participated. This event was held on Saturday the 29th May 2010; and the community of Mtubatuba came in numbers to witness this event. The Africa Centre started this initiative five years back with the help of various sponsorships; including Mtubatuba OK Grocer our major sponsor; with the aim of encouraging the youth of Mpukunyoni in rural Mtubatuba to be involved in healthy activities.
This year almost 500 runners participated in the Fun Run, including veterans. The theme for this year was “Building a Healthy Generation”. The event was a huge success, and the runners won lots of prizes. The first three runners from the 6km /12kms boys and girls category received trophies, medals and vouchers from Mr Price. The Africa Centre is hoping to make it bigger and better next year. Thank you to all the generous sponsorships and support from: OK Grocer, Mtuba Pharmacy, School Sports and Athletics (Department of Education), Comrade Marathon runners and all the schools the participated.
